Collaborative brief writing -
After an initial consultations with the client & their front line team, the design brief may require more detail or clarification in order to ensure a solid foundation to start the design process. It therefore may be necessary to combine forces in updating or restructuring the project brief. Time schedules, project milestones, budgets & action responsibilities can be drawn up more accurately when the brief has a clear understanding by the whole team.
Brain Storming & Background Research -
In order to get the maximum out of the creative design process, It is recommended that the project team take part in Brain Storming. By using free thinking techniques within the team environment, a comprehensive level of knowledge can be tapped into & utilized. Also closer working relationships can be formed at this early stage in the project. Some basic background research may be needed both before & after the Brain Storming sesson(s), depending on the nature of the project.
Initial Concept -
Concepts are the end milestone for the 'Stage 1 Design Phase'. They are a conclusion of the free-thinking stage. Several concepts can be loosely drawn up, in order to visually communicate to all involved in the decision making process, where to focus time & resources for the next stage of the project.
