Initial Concept to Final Design Concept -
After the agreed concept has been chosen, the more detailed design process can begin. This stage is typically where all the technical data is gathered together & a basic 3D 'space claim' model is sketched up and evaluated in relation to function, styling & ergonomics. Engineering, materials, processes & cost may or may not have as strong an influence at this stage, but as the design is refined & developed, these factors will compete for priority right through the 'stage 2' design phase.
During this stage, the 3D sketch model is developed, refined & much detail added. A constant & clear visual overview of the overall design is essential in order to achieve a highly successful product. This is one of our main strengths because our visual communication skills are second to none.
The key to overall success, is to have a design team with a broad skill set who are able to communicate clearly, not only between each other, but also with senior management & potential suppliers etc... Without everyone pulling together in the right direction & making informed key decisions along the way, 'stage 2' can easily become a project killer.
Depending on the nature of the project, DB-ID can play either a large or small role in this vital design stage. We have the creativity, background technical experience & communication skills to help steer the initial concept into a detailed & comprehensive design, through mock-up phase(s) right up to 'stage 3', the Prototype phase.
